Tampa Bay and Orlando sit under Florida’s marker law, which lets you buy a bronze anywhere and bars an installation fee when a licensed outside firm sets it. Locally, the City of Tampa’s cemetery manual and the City of Orlando’s Greenwood rules say what they accept, while the private parks say little. This page covers Tampa’s city cemeteries, Myrtle Hill, Garden of Memories, Royal Palm in St. Petersburg, Calvary in Clearwater, the Bay Pines and Sarasota national cemeteries, Greenwood Orlando and Woodlawn in Gotha. We cast and ship the bronze with shipping included. Allow six to eight weeks from payment to delivery. Casting, hand finishing and shipping from our foundry take most of that time, and we send a free written proof before anything is cast. If your cemetery sets markers only in certain months, order early enough for its next installation window.

City of Tampa cemeteries: the March 31, 2026 manual

Tampa runs Centro Asturiano, Jackson Heights, Marti/Colon, Memorial Park, Oaklawn, Pyramid Crypts and Woodlawn under a Cemetery Technical Manual last updated March 31, 2026. Grave markers must be bronze, marble or granite, and bronze plaques must sit on a granite or marble base. Grave markers and upright monuments must be at least 4 inches thick, a figure the granite base supplies, and the foundation must be the full size of the memorial base, finishing 1 inch below grade. Bronze markers need Department approval before installation, and a cremation burial on a full grave may have only a flat marker. “The city does not provide monument services”: installation is by City approved monument companies carrying liability insurance that names the City as additional insured, renewed each year. The installer calls the Cemetery Coordinator at least 48 hours ahead, and upright and flat monuments carry a $35 flagging fee (2026). Only plastic flower receptacles are allowed, one per grave at ground level.

Myrtle Hill, Garden of Memories and Sunset Memory Gardens

Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, a Dignity Memorial park since 1917 on 105 acres, offers ground burial with flat or upright markers but publishes no marker specifications. Garden of Memories, also Dignity Memorial, has no marker rules online, and neither does Sunset Memory Gardens in Thonotosassa, founded in 1958. Florida’s section 497.278 means none of them may charge an installation fee when a licensed outside firm supplies and sets the marker, and section 497.280 requires their size and style rules to be uniform and conspicuously posted. Ask each office for those posted rules, the bronze size for your space and whether bronze must sit on granite.

St. Petersburg and Clearwater: Royal Palm and Calvary

Royal Palm North and Royal Palm South in St. Petersburg have a troubled record: reporting from 2013 documented missing and misplaced grave markers, the state ordered violations corrected, the former owner filed for bankruptcy in 2018, and another cemetery company bought both cemeteries in 2021 with state approval. Families there sometimes need a replacement marker. Because Royal Palm is a private cemetery, Florida’s installation fee ban applies directly; ask the current office for its size rules and have a licensed installer place the new bronze. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Clearwater, of the Diocese of St. Petersburg, describes a bronze memorial “cast of solid bronze” that is “secured level in the ground”, personalized with emblems and words, but gives no sizes, base rule, dealer policy or fees. St. Petersburg’s city cemeteries publish nothing found.

Orlando: Greenwood and Woodlawn in Gotha

Greenwood Cemetery, run by the City of Orlando, requires markers of granite, marble or bronze installed by a licensed memorial representative, allows only one stone or marker per grave space, and requires a concrete foundation under every marker, poured by licensed memorial representatives or cemetery staff, except in Blocks 11 and 12. There markers lie flush and “shall be no larger than 2’6″ by 1’1″ by 4″ (30″ x 13″)”. On a base, that leaves only about half an inch above and below a 24 by 12 inch bronze, so a plaque of about 22 by 9 inches is the practical fit. Foundation fees are established by the City and paid in advance at the office, but no amount is published, and Greenwood is not a perpetual care cemetery. Woodlawn Memorial Park in Gotha, a Dignity Memorial park founded in 1926, offers flush or upright memorials with no marker rules online. Cape Canaveral National Cemetery prohibits altering headstones.

Bay Pines and Sarasota national cemeteries

Bay Pines says no item or object may be attached to a headstone or marker in a national cemetery, and Sarasota says altering a headstone or niche cover in any manner is prohibited. VA orders and sets the government marker in both at no cost. A private bronze from us belongs in a private Tampa Bay cemetery, as a marker carrying a VA medallion or a spouse’s marker; see veteran bronze grave markers.

What we supply in Tampa, St. Petersburg and Orlando

Tampa’s manual wants bronze on granite, which is how our markers are built to be mounted.

We supply the bronze. Every plaque is cast in solid LG2 statuary bronze (85 percent copper, 5 percent tin, 5 percent zinc, 5 percent lead) with raised polished lettering on a textured background, a hand applied color and a clear protective coating. Cemetery markers are cast with lugs and fitted with 3/8 inch brass all thread studs, nuts and washers for bolting to a granite or concrete base; columbarium plates use 1/4 inch fittings. We publish the alloy openly and can supply a certificate of authenticity stating it, so a cemetery that has its own alloy rule can check our figures against it before you order; a few cemeteries specify a higher copper or lower lead content than LG2, and where a page knows of one it says so. The granite or concrete base and the setting are arranged through the cemetery office or a local monument dealer; we do not pour bases or install.

A 24 by 12 inch flat marker is $1,697.45 cast to order and a 20 by 10 inch cremation marker is $1,407.68; for Greenwood’s Blocks 11 and 12, type about 22 by 9 inches into the designer. A 12 by 8 inch plaque for a park or memorial bench is $796.86, shipping included; see memorial bench plaques. South Florida rules are on the Miami page, and an overview of every state on the USA page.

Any cemetery charge quoted higher on this page, such as a setting fee, a permit, a foundation or an endowment care charge, is paid to the cemetery and is separate from our price. Add the two together for the full installed cost. Open the design tool, type in the size your cemetery allows, and the exact price for that size appears before you order.

How to order

  1. Ask the cemetery office for its written marker rules: the size it allows for your space, the base it requires, who may set the marker and the fee. Most offices email the sheet the same day, and several states require the cemetery to keep it in print for you.
  2. Open the free design tool, pick the shape and type the width and height in inches. The price in US dollars updates as you go, shipping to any address in the continental United States included.
  3. Add the names, dates and wording, choose a border and background, and add an emblem, motif or photo if you want one. Choose lugs with studs if the plaque will be bolted to a granite or concrete base, or a flat back for adhesive mounting on a wall or niche.
  4. Save the design and order it from My Account. We send a written proof you can forward to the cemetery for approval, and nothing is cast until you approve it. Need the full 24 by 12 inch marker size? Tell us when you order; it is cast to order at the same price as the 22 1/16 by 12 inch size in the tool.

Frequently asked questions

What does the City of Tampa charge to set a bronze marker?

The city does not set markers itself. Its manual, updated March 31, 2026, lists a $35 flagging fee for upright and flat monuments, and a City approved monument company does the installation.

Does Tampa allow bronze directly on concrete?

No. The manual says bronze plaques must sit on a granite or marble base, with a full size foundation finishing 1 inch below grade.

What size marker fits Greenwood Cemetery in Orlando?

In Blocks 11 and 12 markers may be no larger than 2’6″ by 1’1″ by 4″ (30″ x 13″), so a bronze of about 22 by 9 inches on its base is the practical fit. Elsewhere ask the office.

Can I replace a missing marker at Royal Palm?

Yes, through the cemetery office and a Florida licensed installer. Royal Palm is a private cemetery, so it may not charge an installation fee when an outside licensed firm supplies and sets the marker.

Can a private bronze go at Bay Pines or Sarasota National Cemetery?

No. VA orders and sets the government marker, and nothing may be attached to it or altered.
